Keep PJ Home: Ending the Deportation Pipeline
Hosted by the Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Asian Law Caucus
Join us on July 12th from 6 - 8 pm to hear Borey 'PJ' Ai, a formerly incarcerated Cambodian refugee and one of the youngest people ever sentenced to life in prison, share his lived experience of the school to prison to deportation pipeline. PJ will be in conversation with his mother, Savun Yong, who fled Cambodia with her children only to be separated from her son for over 20 years in the United States.
We’ll be featuring the artwork of acclaimed illustrator Thi Bui, author of the award-winning illustrated memoir The Best We Could Do, who has been a critical ally in the fight for PJ’s freedom, as well as writing letters of support for PJ’s pardon and sharing information about AB 2845, an important piece of legislation that would increase transparency and accessibility in the pardon and commutation process in California.
